The President of the Royal Tennis Federation of Morocco, Fayçal Laâraichi, is the new President of the Morocco National Olympic Committee (CNOM), following elections at the recent General Assembly of the body on 14 June 2017 in Rabat. He ran unchallenged and succeeds Hosni Benslimane who had been President 1993. Fayçal Laâraichi’s team also comprises three Vice Presidents (Kamal Lahlou, Abdeslam Ahizoune, Fouzi Lekjaa), a Secretary-General (El Mamoun Belaabas Alaoui), a Deputy Secretary-General (Driss Hassa), a Treasurer General (Omar Bilali) and a Deputy Treasurer General (Mohamed Mouktabil). The team also comprises five assessors: Abdeljaouad Belhaj, Abdelatif Idmahama, Tahar Boujouala, Mohamed Belmahi and Youssef Fatihi.
The 2015-2016 progress and financial reports were also adopted during this session of the CNOM ordinary General Assembly.
The Nyanza Olympafrica Centre recently hosted a sport administration training course for 107 refugees. The training drew participants from six camps, who were trained to train other refugees in their respective camps.
The Malawi Olympic Committee organised a festival dubbed “Summer Games” at the Lilongwe Olympafrica Centre from 25 to 28 August 2017. The event featured the following sports disciplines: football, lawn tennis, athletics, judo, netball and archery.
