Aïcha Garad Ali was on 4 January 2017 elected for another four-year term of office at the helm of the Djibouti National Olympic and Sports Committee. A trained physical education teacher, Aïcha Garad Ali played for and captained the Djibouti women’s handball team, before becoming its coach. She has also served in several capacities as a sports administrator: Vice President of the Djibouti handball Federation (1987-1993); Secretary-General of the National Sports Commission for the Reformation of the Djibouti Olympic and Sports Movement (2004); Chairlady of the “Women and Sport” Commission at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (1999-2005). She has been at the helm of the country’s NOC since 2005. Faissal Abdourahman was also elected Secretary-General during the same session.
A sports administration course was organised for coaches in Bangui, Central African Republic, from 25 to 29 September 2017. The training focused on good governance principles in sports organisations, ethical values and principles
The Ghana Volleyball Federation, in partnership with the Ghana Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity has, since 13 September, been organising a capacity building training course for 33 coaches of the country in Accra.
