Niger joined other countries of Africa and the world on 23 June 2017 to celebrate Olympic Day. Several activities were organised at the NOC headquarters, housed at the Issaka Dabore Complex. They kicked off with a jogging session that brought together people from diverse horizons, followed by a fencing demonstration and a public lecture on the theme “Olympism, sharing the joy of sport and united around Olympic Values.” The event was graced by the NOC President Moussa Ibrahim and several other dignitaries including officials of national sports federations. Moussa Ibrahim personally delivered the message of the IOC President, Thomas Bach. During the public lecture organised on the occasion, the President of the National Olympic Academy, Omar Soungayze, member of the NOC Executive Council, raised a number of issues relating to Olympism, especially the history, motto and importance. This was followed by fruitful interactions between the speaker and participants.
