NOC Benin chose Bochicon as host city of Olympic Day 2017, which was officially celebrated on 23 and 24 June at a local hotel, under the patronage of the city’s mayor, Luc Atrokpo. The event featured several activities, including a public lecture on 23 June on the themes: “Gender in sport”, “Violence in stadia” and “The Fight Against Doping” and diverse sporting events which took place on 24 June with activities like a race, a walk, safari, bountou, and bicycle race… “Besides commemorating the advent of the Olympic Games of modern times, Olympic Day of 23 June also aims at encouraging people to adopt and maintain healthy ways of life while upholding the values of excellence, friendship and respect,” the NOC president, Julien Minavoareminded participants.
