As the countdown to the 3rd African Youth Games, Algiers 2018, narrows down, an ANOCA-AASC-COJAJ joint meeting was held on 24 and 25 May 2017 in Algiers. On that occasion, participants sought mainly to take stock of the progress of preparations and inspect venues scheduled to host the event. The meeting was initiated by ANOCA, AASC, NOC Algeria and the Algerian Ministry of Sports. Technical delegates and representatives of International Federations and African Sports Confederations were on hand to inspect sports and accommodation as well as catering facilities. Besides these site inspection tours, participants also reviewed the COJAJ progress report, the reports of the commissions and the venues and facilities inspection mission report. An in-depth scrutiny of the general and technical regulations was also made, together with procedures for qualifiers at the level of continental sports Confederations.
The 3rd African Youth Games are billed for Algiers from 17 to 27 July 2018.
The Chairman of the ANOCA Athletes’ Commission, Amadou Dia Ba’a attended the three-day Forum with other Africans, including Enee Udong (ANOCA), Kirsty Coventry and Aya Medani (IOC), Kady Kanouté (WADA) and Nadia Cruz (World Olympians Association).
