Senegalese skier Aminata Gabriella fall, 33, is engaged in the qualifiers for the 2018 winter Olympic Games. Her participation would thus be a first for her country, and she is a female skier for that matter. Aminata Gabriella Fall was born in Italy on 5 January 1979 to a Senegalese father and an Italian mother. Her alpine skiing speciality is giant slalom, and she is currently training in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. “Representing Senegal in a sport that is part of Italian culture, in which I was raised, helps me show that difference is strength. It also opens up new opportunities. I am a very committed person,” she said.
The Nyanza Olympafrica Centre recently hosted a sport administration training course for 107 refugees. The training drew participants from six camps, who were trained to train other refugees in their respective camps.
The Malawi Olympic Committee organised a festival dubbed “Summer Games” at the Lilongwe Olympafrica Centre from 25 to 28 August 2017. The event featured the following sports disciplines: football, lawn tennis, athletics, judo, netball and archery.
